Question mark
The question mark is used to introduce a question.
There are three ways to ask a question in French. Orally, it is possible to make a sentence of the type subject verb complement and then add a question mark at the end. This is marked by the timbre of the voice.
Another way to mark the question is simply to begin the sentence with "est-ce que". This directly introduces a question.
Finally, the third way to introduce a question is by inverting the subject. This form is more sustained.
In all three ways of asking a question, a question mark should be added at the end of the sentence to mark the question.
- Tu sais quand il va venir ?
- Est-ce que tu sais quand il va venir ?
- Sais-tu quand il va venir ?
A space is added before and after the question mark.
