Exclamation mark
The exclamation mark ends an exclamation phrase and can be used to indicate an impression such as anger, surprise, admiration, astonishment etc.
Vive le Roi !
Il ne faut pas y aller !
The exclamation mark is often used in an imperative sentence although this is not mandatory and a simple period is also quite correct.
Range ta chambre !
Fais tes devoirs !
A space is added before and after the exclamation mark.
When the exclamation mark is used for an interjection (e.g. zut, bravo, aïe), do not capitalize the word that follows it.
Zut ! j'ai oublié ma montre.
Bravo ! tu as réussi.
