Present participle and verbal adjective

Be careful to make difference between participle present and verbal adjective. Their spelling does not follow the same rule. Participle past is always invariable and express an action: des fillettes tremblant de peur.

Meanwhile verbal adjective indicates a state and follows link rules: des fillettes tremblantes.

Spelling from participle present and verbal adjective is not always the same. For instance:
