Verbs from group 1
Verbs from group 1 have the following ending. Exceptions are regarding spelling change in order to keep sonority.
-e -es -e -ons -ez -ent
Verbs in group 2
Verbs from group 2 follow the general rule. The only exception is haïr which keeps a trema in its ending.
-s -s -t -ssons -ssez -ssent
Verbs in group 3
General ending for verb in group 3 are the following:
-s -s -t -ons -ez -ent
Verbs in -dre like vendre, perdre, coudre:
-ds -ds -d -ons -ez -ent
Verbs in -tre like battre, mettre:
-ts -ts -t -ttons -ttez -ttent
Verbs in -pre like rompre and interrompre:
-ps -ps -pt -pons -pez -pent
Exception for verbs in -aindre, -eindre, -oindre, -soudre comme craindre, peindre, joindre, résoudre who follow the general rule:
-s -s -t -ons -ez -ent
Verbs pouvoir, vouloir, valoir are ending by:
-x -x -t -ons -ez -ent
Verbs like ouvrir, cueillir have the ending of verbs from group 1:
-e -es -e -ons -ez -ent
The last exception is with verb vaincre which keeps a c in its ending. Sometimes, it becomes a qu- to keep the sound:
-cs -cs -c -quons -quez -quent
